You Are My Sunshine Mother’s Day Brunch – as seen on 100 Layer Cakelet
Around a year ago, I teamed up with my girl Lindsay of Southern Sky Design and her friend Nakia of A Handcrafted Affair to photograph a Mother’s Day inspired brunch. The shoot became a gorgeous, cheerfu, mid-century modern piece with natural textures and bright colors. The concept was ideal to celebrate moms! Lindsay’s idea of individual bouquets as favors was so inventive and fresh. She used bold tissue paper to wrap the blooms and topped it off with leather pieces. Nakia created the text by taking yellow fabric and hand-knotting each piece around formed wire. Paired with Lindsay’s Italian Ruscus + Plumosa, the background was a show stopper that resembled vines around the sun. I brought my Barbet male Cinna, who is also a therapy dog, as the “dog talent” and he patiently sat for several portraits. This shoot could not have been more fun to be a part of. The icing on the cake was seeing it published on 100 Layer Cakelet. Indianapolis has so much creative talent that I am thankful to work with!
