Amanda + Rob’s Ritz Charles Spring Indianapolis Wedding

I knew this Indianapolis wedding was going to be one for the memory books. You may remember Amanda and Rob from their summer engagement session at the Indianapolis Museum of Art last summer. Their pup Nori the Norwich Terrier made a special appearance. Their day was now here and I’ve been so eager to capture this couple’s wedding! They worked hard on making every element special and beautiful.

There are so many unique details I loved about this wedding! Meg Catherine Flowers were killer! Wedding planner Jessica Dum is beyond great to work with. The blush /gold color details including a custom Mrs Box. The gold hand lettering by Manayunk Calligraphy was an elegant touch. Amanda’s Lazarro gown fit her perfectly and had a touch of drama. Nicey Treat‘s Popsicle stand was delectable. The raspberry with edible gold dust macaron were pretty awesome if I do say so myself (I made them!).

I could go on and on but the photos speak for themselves. It was truly a pleasure Amanda and Rob! Let’s get Nori and crazy Gaia together soon!

Bride + Groom Q+A:

From the inception of our wedding planning we knew, if absolutely nothing else, that we envisioned a light, airy, spring garden wedding. There’s something really magical and inspiring about the warmth of the sun in the spring and the rebirth of all things green, floral and beautiful. From there, everything seemed to flow together with an ease that felt like what can only be described as reassurance that we were making all the right decisions for our day. The month of May quickly became our month, with April being known for rain showers and June being known for its ninety-degree days. Knowing that we wanted to avoid Memorial Day weekend while still getting married toward the end of the month, May 21, 2016 became our wedding day.

Our venue was the first and only venue we visited. We know. Crazy! It instantly checked our boxes, including some we didn’t yet know we had. Now having lived it, it was absolutely perfect. It was a full glass, enclosed structure with multiple doors spanning the entire perimeter of the building, allowing sunlight and fresh air into the space throughout the reception. It was light, airy, open and dreamy. It was also completely surrounded by trees, greenery and manicured gardens, which complimented our garden theme perfectly.

After choosing the venue, the décor choices came pretty easily. Along with knowing our theme from the get-go, we also knew that we wanted our bridesmaids in light pink and our groomsmen in tuxedos. We couldn’t have created a more perfect pink for the bridesmaids! Their Amsale gowns were perfection. With light pink as our primary color we chose white and gold accents to compliment.  One of our favorite details were the mirrors used at the ceremony and reception. We had our calligrapher write messages on each, welcoming guests to the ceremony and also to the reception. It was a small detail, but one that we loved.

Simply put, our wedding day was magic. It was everything we thought it would be and more. Beyond the sheer joy of getting married and being surrounded by the people we love most, there was an incredible happiness in finally seeing the fruits of our labor. And man was it worth it! Throughout the wedding planning process we received a lot of tips, tricks, advice and personal experiences and the resounding testament was that “your wedding day will be the best day of your life.” Now, looking back on our day, it truly was the very best day of our lives in a way that’s difficult to describe and we consistently find ourselves wishing we could relive it one hundred times over.

Our favorite moments… where do we begin? Our ceremony definitely tops the list. There was so much emotion leading up to it and when it finally arrived, it was peaceful and calm and felt absolutely right. We could live in that moment forever. We also loved our first look. It was a very special moment to see each other for the first time and to share that moment privately. It really allowed us to be present and focus on the ceremony after already having seen each other. And as if that weren’t enough, our parent, maid of honor and best man speeches were record setting. Each of them had just the right amount of everything that makes a speech spectacular. They were heartfelt, funny and uplifting. We often wonder how we got so lucky to have so many wonderful people in our lives!

The Father of our church mispronounced our last name in his opening statement of the ceremony! It was a completely innocent mistake and a total icebreaker. Thank you, Father Steve! We also had several funny reception guest moments! Toward the end of the evening, one of our male guests had requested Single Ladies by Beyonce but was told that it was on the “do not play list” and would have to ask permission. He was not discouraged and prevailed in his request by insisting he was “really good at it.” And good at it he was! He provided four to five solid minutes of great entertainment.
