Stephanie and Ryan’s Summer Downtown Chicago Engagement Photography Session

Q+A with Stephanie and Ryan:

In the summer of 2013 I had just graduated from Indiana University, moved to Chicago, and started my job at Coyote Logistics. Part of the training program at Coyote involves sitting with a different rep each day.

On July 5th I was assigned to sit with Ryan Campbell.  I was immediately blown away by Ryan’s intensity and drive- and how fast he spoke! I’m usually an avid note taker but was only able to jot down a couple of his pointers.

A few weeks (and a few declined invitations) later the Tigers were playing the Red Sox in the American League championship. The game was on during my birthday party in my apartment. Knowing what I know now about Ryan’s superstition with any important sporting event, it’s surprising that he watched the game away from home!

After the Red Sox won, I told Ryan that I would go on a first date with him…. if the Red Sox won the World Series. We watched every game in the series together and they won the championship in Game Six.

I had been planning our proposal for quite some time.  I was so anxious and that day seemed to drag on forever!  Luckily one of Stephanie‘s best friends was coming in town that weekend already for a girls’ weekend so I recruited her to help with the plans.  I chose to surprise Stephanie at Drumbar. It’s one of our favorite bars in Chicago and has a little private nook in the back of the bar which I thought was a perfect place to pop the question.  Stephanie thought she was heading out for drinks before dinner with her girlfriend, and there I was waiting for her.  She was quite confused when she saw me but everything became much more clear as she approached and I got down on one knee and asked her to be mine for the rest of my life.  She said yes and made me the happiest man in the world.

Ryan designed the ring based on what I said I liked. He actually had the jeweler send him some plastic 3D molds until he was happy with it!
We are planning our wedding next July in Indianapolis. The ceremony will be at St. John’s and the reception will be at Crowne Plaza Union Station. We fell in love with the ballroom and can’t wait to celebrate with family and friends!
