Colville Washington Wedding Photography

Susanna and Steven’s wedding in Colville, Washington was a particular treat to photograph as the groom is my cousin. I do not get to see my family that often so spending a week with them was so special. My adorable cousin Tracy also came up from California. She and I are voracious in our lettuce consumption as well as hiking buddies. In between visiting my beloved grand parents, we hiked 4-8 miles around lakes, water falls, and mountains. The smell of fresh pine along the trail was heavenly!

Being the Washington landscape is SO vastly different than Indiana, I had SO MUCH fun photographing these two by waterfalls, in evergreens, and atop mountains. Thankfully we didn’t run into any angry bears. I am already planning my next visit and hoping they’ll come with as so I can photograph them again in this stunning landscape.

Bride and Groom Q+A:

How did you two meet? The couple met while they worked at EMT’s in 2012.

What inspired your wedding style? We wanted a wedding that combined a classy feel with vintage/rustic look. We had almost a full year to plan the wedding. I started with my colors, chose dress styles for me and my bridesmaids, then brainstormed on decor. I did a lot of DIY for my decorations.

Anecdotes about your gown? I LOVE lace. The A-line, sweetheart neckline, and V back was just perfect for the feel I was looking for. I also wanted a little bit of a train, which this dress also had. It was pretty light and easy to move around in!

Favorite Moments? One of my favorite moments was listening to the toasts. I am not a cryer, but I definitely bawled my eyes out listening to my dear friends and family’s memories and well wishes.

Funniest Moments?  One of the funniest moments was during our official vows. Our pastor had just instructed us to exchange rings. Being the ditz that I am, I extended my right hand instead of my left. We both realized the mistake as he was trying to slip the ring on my finger, everyone laughed (except maybe Steven), and we still joke about it.

First Dance Song? Our first song was “I’ll be” my Edwin McCain.
