Brelyn + Clayton’s Columbus Indiana First Christian and the Commons Summer Wedding

There are so many things about this wedding that I love. For starters, Brelyn and family could not be more warm and welcoming! It was so fun to work with this group! Brelyn and Clayton are adorable together. Brelyn was beyond stunning her her Bhldn gown. Clayton looked equally dapper and had a distinctive boutonniere that was perfect for he and his groomsmen. Together, these two were so effortless and easy to photograph. I loved capturing all the laughter and sweet moments.

I adored working with Brelyn, Clayton, and their families. From First Christian Church to the Commons there are few venues that can host such a large number of guests. Alan Trisler with Audio Magic Entertainment kept the celebration moving with unequaled style.  Their day could not have been more perfect! Thank you all in trusting me to capture your celebrations. I hope you will love the images as much as I do!

Bride + Groom Q+A:

Our wedding day, July 16, 2016, was simply perfect. I had gone over the day in my head over and over again, and it was just how I imagined it would be (even the weather was perfect on the atypical July day). We chose First Christian Church because that is the church where I grew up, my parent’s got married at the church, and Clayton’s grandparents were married there as well. I love the lighting and the architecture of the church, the classic modern look is timeless and is a National Historic Landmark. The Commons, where we held our reception, has a similar feel and is an iconic  in downtown Columbus. The building is all windows which provides for beautiful natural lighting, especially in the evening time.

My favorite moment of the day was during the ceremony. Our ceremony was at 4:30 in the afternoon so the sun was starting to set. As we were standing listening to Pastor Teike give the message I felt the sun suddenly shine on the side of my face. It was as if God was giving us his blessing, I already knew that everything about Clayton and I being together was right, but feeling the sun shining down on us as we gave our vows made it all right in that moment.
After the ceremony the wedding party all piled into the limo to celebrate, and go to some of Clayton and I’s favorite locations downtown to take some more pictures. We made our way to the Veteran’s Memorial, Courthouse, Post Office, and outside of one of Cummins office buildings. As Clayton and I walked across the street to Cummins and the wedding party got back in the limo we saw the limo start driving away, in the opposite direction! Apparently, the driver thought that Clayton and I were going to walk to the reception while everyone else celebrated for a while longer in the limo. We still joke that our own party left us!
Clayton picked our first dance song, I had no idea what it was until it started playing at the reception. He chose “When You Say Nothing at All,” by Keith Whitley. It was such a special moment.
