Chicago Public Hotel Wedding: Cate and Jerome

Chicago Public Hotel Wedding: Cate and Jerome

Cate heard about my work through a Style Me Pretty published wedding. I was so excited to be a part of her and Jerome’s big day. We met initially during their stylish Chicago engagement session and I knew then we were going to have a great time on their wedding day. The Public Hotel was stunning which fit Cate and Jerome’s taste impeccably. The Public’s roof top terrace with downtown Chicago view, rooms with SO much light, and a plethora of fun backdrops within the swanky lobby made me want another full day with this gorgeous couple. Their handsome French water dog, Barkley, also made a special appearance after the I do’s to take some photos with his humans. Cate and Jerome you were my dream couple to work with and I am so honored and appreciative you chose me to document you special day.

Bride and Groom Q&A:

Overview of the day:

We chose the Public Hotel first because it used to be the old Ambassador East, home of the historic Pump Room, and has been reimagined by hotelier Ian Schrager. When my Nana was a stewardess and living in Chicago many years ago she actually lived in the Ambassador East, so the hotel holds a lot of meaning for our family.  Once we saw its new design we were sold.

When the day came, it was a wonderful feeling.  We woke up, had coffee and breakfast with the bridesmaids and got started on hair and makeup.  It was a very calm morning, which is exactly what I imagined.  Our suite at Public was beautiful and we were just enjoying the morning and each others’ company.  We opened a few bottles of champagne and once everyone started getting dressed we were really excited to get the night started!  The Public Hotel has a beautiful terrace overlooking the city, so we were glad to use that as the backdrop for some of our pictures.

Jerome and I are a bit old fashioned, so because we didn’t do a first look we had to do some extra planning so we didn’t see each other beforehand in the hotel.  Everything worked out.

Favorite moment(s)?

My favorite moment was after the ceremony was over and Jerome and I got to take pictures on the terrace just the two of us.  It was a nice time for us to just be, and to finally see each other.

Funniest moment(s)?

The bridal party kept me laughing all day long.  It’s hard to pick one moment.  We had some pretty funny moments on the dance floor.
